As the concept of wellness and “Alternatives” to medicine grows, the relationship between Doctors of Medicine and Doctors of Chiropractic has improved greatly. Unfortunately, because standards of medical care do not included Chiropractic and the medical administrative position on alternatives is ambivalent at best – you don’t see many referrals happening. Many, many medical doctors are patients in our offices and many more have told us that they see the benefits of Chiropractic but simply aren’t allowed to refer. Because chiropractors are in many ways the “Other doctors” and in the mind of some medical authorities the “Competition”, there’s been a long-standing issue with the two working together. Chiropractors, however, are happy to refer any medical case or emergency to medical authorities.
