Why don’t Lumishore do 180-degree lenses?

Return to list of questions We can and do, but only to special order. In designing the Lumishore lights we use advanced techniques to optimize the spread and distance throws from our light outputs utilizing the available light to optimize your underwater viewing experience. Narrow beams do not give adequate coverage and result in customers having to buy many units to ‘fill the space’. Our approach benefits the customer in a number of ways. Firstly they will typically need to buy fewer lights. Secondly our beams are wide and even and ensure the best possible use of the available light produced. Our 180-degree lenses provide even broader beams but with less ‘throw’. We do not ‘craze’ or ‘frost’ the glass surface as that reduces the amount of light passing into the water, which is obviously undesirable.
