Some victim do leave, some come and go, most victims go back between 3 and 7 times. Reasons given by victims for staying with their abuser are; fear of further violence, lack of resources, acceptance of their violent situation, lack of affordable housing, lack of employment opportunities, or financial assistance. They may have tried to leave and were tracked down by the abuser in the past. They may not have a strong support group. Remember the victims fear is REAL, the most dangerous time for a victim is when they try to escape the abuser.
