Why don birds get hurt on power lines?
Anywhere in the United States you’ll find birds sitting on power lines, towers and polls. It is common knowledge that power lines are extremely dangerous and everyone should stay away from them. However, birds seem to flock to them and can be seen in large numbers safely hanging out. You can think of the energy like flowing water, but it needs a circuit or track to follow. The energy stays within its track in the power line, unless something else causes it to divert to a new track.
