Why don Arab women have the same rights as Arab men?
-Bobby, FL The issue of women’s rights in the Arab world is complex. There has been an Arab feminist movement for over 100 years, since before American women got the right to vote. But traditional values and customs change slowly. Often, people are afraid that the erosion of traditional values will lead to what they see as immorality, the problems of single parents and the very high divorce rate which they see in the West. Arab family life is a very strong value.
