Why don’t all of the clinical laboratory organizations come together to form a single PAC?

0

Although the various clinical laboratory organizations have formed the Clinical Laboratory Coalition (CLC) to advocate on behalf of the clinical laboratory industry, the CLC is not a formal organization. A PAC cannot be formed unless all of the organizations would agree to form a legal entity in which each organization would agree to participate and sacrifice some individual autonomy. By participating in the CLC, members are able to preserve their individual agendas on issues that may be uniquely important to their organizations. While the CLMA PAC may decide to support the same candidates as other clinical laboratory organizations, CLMA PAC also has the ability to support additional Members of Congress and candidates.
