Why doesn’t Venmo split up payments?
Say you have 5 dollars in your Venmo balance, but you want to pay someone 8 dollars. Rather than splitting up the payment between your balance and your card ($5 from balance, and then a $3 card charge) we put the full 8 dollar charge on your card. We do this so that it’s easier to understand the origin of the charge on your credit card statement. In this scenario, your Venmo balance would remain at $5.
