The whole story of Jake’s was a plan to finally see a Day 7. So basically, we could assume that it was agreed to fool Jake into watching the tape, and then not watch his copy of the tape, and thus not save him. Of course, he does get Emily to watch the tape in the end, but, as we see in The Ring twO, Emily closes her eyes while watching, and thus doesn’t manage to save him. Back to the top.
