Why doesnt the wellness benefit cover health clubs or exercise classes?
This option was investigated during 2007. It was actually difficult to generate significant interest from fitness clubs to offer any kind of discount unless the State would guarantee automatic payroll deductions. Also, the administration of this type of benefit has a fair amount of overhead to protect the plan from abuse. PEBP remains open to this idea however if a streamlined approach is identified.
