Why doesn the “Richmond” wireless domain act the same as before the upgrade?

A. As of August 10, 2005, the “richmond” wireless domain (ssid) was replaced by “urwin” (University of Richmond Wireless Network). Over the summer of 2005, Network Services increased the number of wireless access points from 150 to over 550 devices to provide campus-wide wireless coverage. In addition, wireless security was enhanced. To accomplish this, Information Services implemented 802.1x authentication, WPA encryption, and designed a wireless network to provide maximum coverage and performance for the University. The “Richmond” ssid is now what an unregistered/unconfigured user or guest will see when attempting to connect to our wireless network. From the “Richmond” SSID users will be able to register their wireless network cards and find instructions for connecting to the “urwin” network.
