Why doesn’t the OCS place students in jobs?
The placement concept assumes that the OCS staff has access to virtually all the jobs currently available or can locate and match your employment needs directly with a position. The placement model at best is an ideal currently modified by most schools. Today’s economy is vastly different from the one that faced college graduates in the past. As a consequence, more flexible recruiting and creative job search strategies, techniques, and methods are now the norm. Projections by government and professional associations suggest that the employment situation for college graduates will probably be more challenging in the future. The OCS has an active On-Campus Recruiting Program that annually hosts between 50 to 90 employers and about 100 graduate and professional schools through our annual Graduate and Professional School Fair. Supplementing these on-campus programs, we offer students access to employers through multi college Off-Campus Recruiting Consortia in New York City, Boston, and Mai
