The answer can all be summed up in one way: where you stand on something depends on where you sit. “Full Service” law firms are divided into various departments which roughly translate into “corporate lawyer” and “litigator.” The corporate lawyer’s goal in life is to help the client structure and document a transaction which the client and the other parties want to accomplish; the litigator’s goal is to help the client fight when the “friendly” relationship goes sour.
