Why doesn the County renovate existing facilities?

0

While County staff evaluated renovation options, its current facilities (with the exception of the Justice Center) are not owned by the County and are each in excess of 70-years old. In the case of the largest of the leased facilities, Queensgate Correctional, the converted 100-year-old warehouse is in such disrepair that the April 2007 lease with Corrections Corporation of America stipulates that the owner is not responsible for building maintenance and that the County may vacate the building should it become uninhabitable.
