Why doesn the chrome shop put another coat of protective clear?
1. Another coat will dull the brightness some. 2. It may cause runs that may be more noticeable than the minor scratches. 3. Dust particles build up the more coats applied. The chrome shop will not be responsible if these problems occur. We do recommend you putting a couple of light coats of clear enamel on parts that are all chrome like armrest. I feel it is better to have a small run or small amount of dust particles than for the finish to rub off in a short amount of time. The chrome look is vaporized aluminum and is only .00005 millimeters thick. It is really only a colorization applied to the base coat of paint.
