Why doesn the Board institute a cafeteria type of health plan?
Cafeteria plans are certainly an option but are usually associated with a much lower employer contribution than what presently exists for the PEBP plan (with or without the proposed reductions). Some would also view individual cafeteria plan benefits as more volatile than the current plan structure because of the potential for adverse selection.
