Download and install the newest version of Overdrive Media Console. Older versions do not support iPod transfers of WMA audiobooks. Due to publisher’s licensing restrictions, most audiobooks are available in only WMA (Windows Media Audio) format which has DRM (Digital Rights Management) encoding in the file. DRM ensures that the audio files aren’t illegally shared by restricting copies and enforcing expiration rights. The iPod and some MP3 player devices can only play MP3 format (a non-Microsoft file without DRM). With the newest version of the Overdrive Media Console, you can convert WMA files to MP3 for iPods. Some MP3 players like most cell phones are not able to play WMA-DRM files. When browsing our audiobook collection, pay attention to the icons to let you which formats are playable on your device.
