Why doesn TBF pass an offering plate?
One aspect of our church’s ministry that many people notice immediately is the fact that we do not pass an offering plate. We do certainly believe that financial giving to the Lord through the local church is an important act of obedience for believers, as both a privilege and a responsibility. However, the Word of God makes it clear that giving ought to be an individual and private act of worship (Matt. 6:1-4). The use of offering plates can put pressure on people “to perform” and may motivate them to contribute for the wrong reasons. TBF has an offering box on the back table in the auditorium to receive whatever financial gifts believers desire to give to support and to sustain the ongoing ministry of the church.
