Why doesn St. Ambrose drop its parking fee?

The creation of each parking spot costs the university approximately $3,000, not including the cost of the land. Student parking permits help by defraying a small portion of this cost, as well as ongoing maintenance. In addition, student forums held Spring 2010 indicated that parking permit cost was reasonable and did not contribute to off-campus parking. Our campus facility planners regularly review all possible options and solutions to campus parking issues. As with all land-locked campuses, parking is an issue. We are open to cost effective and creative solutions to campus parking issues.
