Why doesn RIP Vinyl include an MP3 Codec?
Windows 95 and 98 shipped with an MP3 codec that could record to a 22,050 Hz format. Microsoft removed this from later versions of windows. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship an MP3 codec with RIP Vinyl, as the licensing it requires a minimum commitment of $15,000 per year, and a per copy surcharge of $5.00 for each copy of the program sold. This would make RIP Vinyl unviable. You may find that other software on your system already has licensed the codec.
