When playing a WMV file in QuickTime, Flip4Mac temporarily wraps the content in a QuickTime wrapper. This data rate is calculated by QuickTime and is not accurate. Telestream recommends using Windows Media Player 9 for Mac OSX or Windows Media Player 11 for Windows to properly examine data rate.
