Why doesn PerfectDisk see my Network Attached Storage (NAS) drive?

PerfectDisk (as well as other defragmenters including the built-in defragmenter) uses Microsoft’s defrag APIs to perform defragmentation. Microsoft’s defrag APIs only support defragmenting drives that Windows sees as local/fixed drives. Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives are typically drives that are connected to your Ethernet network and are accessed via IP address, UNC share or mapped. If Computer Management/Disk Management on your local computer does not show the drive, then NO defragmenter will be able to defragment the drive. If your NAS device is running Windows (for example, Windows Home Server), then you can install PerfectDisk on the NAS device in order to defragment the NAS drives.
