Why doesn’t Ordnance Survey provide or, at the very least, recommend a transformation system for use by its customers?

Ordnance Survey is a map data agency and not in the applications market, so we do not have the resources or facilities to provide software applications. We cannot recommend a particular transformation system to all customers as one will not fit all. Each customer has its own data that may be points or lines or polygons, or a mixture of all, and have been created from various sources at different accuracy levels. This variety means that there may be features of one transformation method that better suits the accuracy adjustment of a customer’s assets over another. To assist customers, we have prepared a questionnaire on transformations that can be used in discussions with system suppliers and a list of system suppliers that provide transformation solutions.
