Why doesn’t NPS count vacancies in the inventory of positions?

0

NPS vacancies depend on how much funding is available to fill them. Each park or area decides during budget preparation how many seasonals they can afford to hire based on their fixed costs and their priorities. The number of vacancies can change from day to day and any attempt to capture them would be a snapshot in time for that day. There is no central repository in human resources at this time that counts all vacancies. We know that currently there are 101 vacancy announcements for NPS positions. This does not however, account for unfunded vacancies or vacancies that have yet to be announced.
