For databases without a thesaurus (such as “Current Contents” and “Wilson Art Index”), Ovid searches the keyword or phrase you enter at the command line in the text and subject fields. In most databases, these fields include title, abstract and any identifiers, and the subject heading field, if available. Since the list of fields searched varies from database to database, check the individual Field Guides for more information. The fields are listed in the “General Information” category, “Default fields for unqualified searches,” near the top of the Field Guide.
