Why doesn my morse taper fit my tailstock?
In the past, quite a few companies made their headstock/tailstock tapers to match what is called the stub taper in Morse. Stub taper standards have been made obsolete (by the American Standards Society) and information can only be found in old handbooks and have went to the current standard taper length (specified by Morse). Current Morse Taper centers are made with a straight nose to accomodate a drive dog driver instead of using a drive plate on the lathe.
