Why doesn my file sharing program (or other program) work well on ResNet? Why is my ResNet service slow?
Your ResNet connection is shared with the rest of the users on campus. If some users abuse their connection, it slows down the network for everyone else. MSU uses a bandwidth shaping device to try to ensure that those who wish to use the network for web (HTTP) traffic will not be affected by programs such as file-sharing and peer-to-peer applications.
