Why doesn Halo use meat meals (like “chicken meal” and “turkey meal”) when it seems that every other pet food maker does?
Halo has chosen to use only the highest quality ingredients in their pet foods. Meat meals are always considered unfit for human consumption. Meat meals do contain meat and can be of high quality, however, they may also contain 4-D meats (dead, dying, diseased or disabled animals) and potentially other unsavory mammalian tissue. Although meat meals can contribute a high level of protein, the quality and digestibility of meat meals can vary tremendously between batches and Halo has chosen to avoid this source of protein. –Dr.
