Why doesn Google offer phone support for account recovery?

0

Because it would be just as difficult to verify that you’re the true account owner over the phone. Phone support wouldn’t allow us to return a greater amount of accounts than our online system is capable of. This is why Google has opted to provide an online system that’s available 24 hours a day in over 10 languages. Unlike other businesses, such as banks and credit card companies, we don’t keep personal information, such as social security numbers, on file. Therefore, even if users told us this information over the phone, we wouldn’t be able to verify its accuracy. We don’t think it would be secure to give people access to accounts just because they call us and tell us they’re the account owners. That would make it too easy for unauthorized persons to gain access to accounts.
