The epsxe gamepad mapper needs at least Directx 8 to run. Make sure you have installed at least this version. Also there is currently a bug in the SSSPSX plugin which prevents it from working correctly with ANY frontend programs. Until it is fixed it is recommended that you select a different pad plaugin.
