Why doesn FIFA use video review or some other technology to help the referee make decisions?
In general, FIFA is against the use of video evidence to make on-field decisions. At this point, no technology has been able to provide a suitable system in this respect. Most of the proposals have been technically unfit, too expensive or impossible to implement on a global scale. The last point is particularly crucial as the same laws and conditions must apply worldwide so as to avoid distortions in competitions such as the FIFA World Cup (with its some 800 preliminary matches around the globe).
