Why doesn everyone in Southern California Have a Sun Tan?
Didn’t they cover this in your high school bio class? OK, ring the bell, school’s in session: The “tan” look is caused by melanin in your skin responding to the sun. Some people have it, some don’t. My oldest daughter DOESN’T have it, and she looks like she spent the summer in Fairbanks, Alaska. However, my youngest DEFINITELY has it, as do I. Warm thoughts will cause us to tan, whether it’s fall, winter, spring, or summer. One day in the pool will cause either of us to turn a deep golden brown, much to the envy of Mrs. Obviousman and the other ObviousKids. It’s all about the melanin. Either you have it or you don’t. If not, I suggest one of those spray tans. Of course, some people worry about skin cancer, so they stay out of the sun and put on a lot of sun screen. Even with sun screen, however, some of us tan very easily.
