Why doesn Dodge build a mega cab long bed?
Chrysler will not build this truck for one reason; dollars. Let me explain. The Mega Cab’s frame is the same as a Quad Cab Long Bed, the only differences are the bed mount locations, the cab mount location and the fuel tank mounts. It is not a coincidence that the difference in length of a short bed and long bed is the exact same as the difference between a Quad Cab and a Mega Cab. It makes sense financially for the manufacturer to use an existing platform. To develop a new frame for the Mega Cab Long Bed it would cost millions and take years. The cost of research, development, engineering and testing compared to revenues from the small number of sales of that truck simply doesn’t make sense.
