Why doesn Cyrus the Great of Persia get more credit? ?
Yes absolutely. Even Alexander who conquered the Cyrus’ empire wept when he saw that his tomb had been vandalized and robbed. He is likely ignored in European/Western history because of Eurocentrism. Cyrus the Great was an incredible emperor. He was benevolent to his subjects and was even said to have spoken 26 languages fluently. He conquered the greatest empires of his day, revolutionized human rights and he even allowed the Jews to return peacefully to Jerusalem from Babylon. Achaemenid Persia was the only empire that didn’t oppress them, following his example. He once said that he wouldn’t rule over the people if they did not wish it. He truly deserved the epithet more than others like Alexander or Pompey.
