Why doesn Council contribute to the cost of a fence along a walkway?
Council, like any landowner, is obliged to contribute to half the costs associated with boundary fences between council land and adjoining properties. Council is not obliged to contribute to the cost of fencing along street alignments. Laneways, walkways and the like are treated in the same manner as streets, unless they are points of entry to Council’s parks and reserves.
