Why doesn China free tibet?
You ask what Tibet has that China wants. Aside from the traditional ties between China and Tibet that date back many centuries, there are some strategic and economic reasons for China to want to keep Tibet. For one thing, Tibet serves as a security buffer between China and several neighbors, such as India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Additionally, Tibet serves as a source of fresh water for China and there are significant mineral resources. China has also invested a lot of money in the region for economic development. Please note that I do not have an opinion on the merits of the separatist movement.
