Why doesnt bacteria grow in cold environments?
Well, as the person above me answered, it does. the reason that it does, has to do with metabolism rates. Given that bacteria are essentially cold blooded, they are dependent on the environment for temperature. As a result, the lower the temp, the more the metabolic rates are slowed (to a point, when it freezes). . As the environment heats, and the bacteria also heat, the increase in temperature allows for more rapid metabolism, which results in a more favorable environment for reproduction.
