Why doesn Auction Chief report the same number of auctions that eBay reports?

0

Say you’re searching for Beatles CDs on eBay. On the first page of the search eBay prints that it found 1311 Beatles CDs. On the last page of the search, page 20, eBay displays that it found 965 Beatles CDs. If you add that search to Auction Chief, Auction Chief will report 965 auctions found. What’s going on here? I believe that eBay estimates the number of auctions returned by a search in order to return the search page faster. On the last page of a search, eBay knows how many auctions there really are and displays that number.
