Why doesnt Atmos Energy or its vendor have approval from an independent agency in the United States?
Measurement Canada is one of the leading authorities in the natural gas metering industry. No equivalent authority exists in the United States. Of course, Atmos Energy cooperates with state agencies that may require specific testing or test results. Natural gas meters and wireless devices are built and tested to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B109 standards. All meters and devices installed by Atmos Energy comply with the strict ANSI standards. In addition, the dial or index serves as the manual backup, which can be read at anytime.
