Why doesn’t an eyeglass prescription work for contact lenses?
The prescription needed for eyeglasses can be different from that of a contact lens prescription simply because the eyeglass lens is positioned a distance from the eye while a CL is resting on the front surface of the eye. Furthermore, when determining a CL prescription, the size and curvature of the contact lens must be matched to that of the patient’s eye.
