AMI, Award, and Phoenix sell BIOS firmware to motherboard manufacturers under OEM license agreements. Most motherboard manufacturers ship a modified version of the OEM BIOS. The motherboard manufacturers are responsible for supporting their customers. Just like if you bought a Ford car that had a broken Delco radio you couldn’t contact Delco directly for support.
