Why does XMIM message state “Could not open temporary file”?
This can happen if the directory that is pointed to by the Java system propoperty “java.io.tmpdir” is not writeable, possibly because it’s full. Another possibility is that the directory is not full, but the file that XMIM is trying to write is simply too large. There is no direct workaround for this. If the problem is that the directory is full, a possibility is to delete some files from it. XMIM itself has been known to leave files in this directory, and these can be deleted. See the section My temporary directory is full of XMIM files below for more details.
