Why does Wokai only use Google Checkout and not other payment services like PayPal?
Wokai exclusively uses Google Checkout because it receives the service at no cost. Other online payment systems have fees that average 3% per transaction. This enables Wokai to ensure that 100% of each user’s contribution goes towards supporting their recipient’s loan. Why do I have to register with Wokai to make a contribution? Wokai requires you to create your personal Wokai account so that you can track your recipients’ progress through our website and redistribute your contribution once your recipient has repaid his or her loan. Can I contribute by check or cash? If you would like to make a cash or check contribution to support Wokai’s operating costs, you can send a donation to our US office at: 653 11th Street, Oakland, CA, 94607. Unfortunately, Wokai does not yet have an offline system for receiving loan contributions. Does Wokai accept contributions using Chinese credit cards? No. Since Wokai is an international nonprofit, we are unable to fundraise in China and do not have a C
