1. Check if the BIOS Plug & Play OS mode is enabled. 2. Change the modem to another slot. 3. If it’s ISA, set the jumpers to Plug & Play When I dial out, I get an error “No dial tone.” (Error 690) Check the phone line by plugging a phone into the modem and see if you hear a dial tone. If you don’t, change the phone cord. If you do, reinstall the modem. It could also be that the speaker on the modem is defective.
