Why does WIMV-DC prevent the presence of flags at its events?
All flags and all various beliefs are respected by WIMV-DC, however, it does not affiliate itself with any flag and requests that people refrain from bringing flags to WIMV-DC events. In following with the people’s movement in Iran, the symbol of this group is the color Green. Based on this, we believe that the presence of any flag will only cause division among the people and be used to take advantage of the efforts of the people in Iran in an incorrect manner to connect the movement inside Iran with a specific group in order to weaken and cause problems for people in Iran. This would lead to the Iranian media incorrectly linking the Green movement to external entities and undermining its reality as an independent, grassroots movement.
