Why does Wilmington not make mention of Hanukkah or other holidays during December?

Although we can’t speak for why Wilmington proper does or does not make mention of Hanukkah, we can say what coverage the StarNews gave the holiday in December. (We can say, that Wilmington – as is the case with many other cities in the South – is predominantly Christian. And many other religions that celebrate holidays in December sometimes get bowled over by the massive religious and economic force that is the Christmas season.) On the Sunday after the beginning of Hanukkah, Dec. 13, the StarNews published a 1A feature story describing the Temple of Israel’s Hanukkah party: “Area Jewish families gather to celebrate Hanukkah” (tinyurl.com/y9ppjrg) The Divine Diva religion blog, which I author, had two posts about Hanukkah during the holiday, which is generally considered a minor one in Judaism.
