Why does WfJ and its supporters want to stifle open public discussion about the union and prevent the administration from participating in public forums or newspaper interviews?
WfJ welcomes public discussion about the union with all parts of the Pomona Community. WfJ has already organized or participated in dozens of discussions with all parts of the College Community: a meeting with president Oxtoby; two public panels, a meeting and a negotiation with the administration; a panel with alumni and a meeting with the alumni board, and numerous meetings with students and faculty. We were also happy to read President Oxtoby’s interview in a recent edition of Student Life. WfJ will continue to engage the administration in hopes of reaching an agreement on a democratic process. All we are asking the administration to do is recognize the NLRB does not provide workers with a fair and democratic process to unionize and to work with WfJ in good faith to develop a process that does.
