But George does not use month names and dates in the narrative of the books, he tends to say things like “two days later” or “a moon’s turn after that”, however, he has said that the world is approximately the same size as our own, days are the same length, years are the same length and they count them in the same way we do, and from this we can surmise that using our own calendar dates will be approximately correct as well. Of course the calendar would be so much easier to work out if the seasons were not so messed up, we could say winter or summer and narrow things down considerably, but because winter and summer can occur at any point of the year and can last from anywhere between a month and several years long at a time, we can’t use the season as an indicator of when an event occurs.
