WHY DOES WEST MOUNTAIN RADIO PREFER TO USE THE COMPUTERS SOUNDCARD?

0

Many, but not all Ham Radio Soundcard Digital Application Programs allow the user to select which soundcard to use when there is more than one soundcard on a computer as in the case where there is both an internal sound device as well as an external one. So for the programs that DO allow sound device selection, NO problem. However for those Ham Radio Soundcard Digital Application Programs that do not have this provision, the user has to use the “Sounds & Multimedia (W/2K & XP)” or “Sound (Vista & W/7)” selection from the Windows Control Panel and select the external sound device before starting the Ham Radio Soundcard Digital Application Program. Then when finished, the user must reverse this selection to once again use the internal sound device for other applications. Also when this method is used, all Windows sounds from warnings and the like go to the external sound device and potentially over the air.
