Why does VS pour malleable iron and not ductile (nodular) iron?

0

Because we specialize in very small castings weighing under two pounds (800 grams) and with very thin sections (down to 1/8 inch or 3 mm), malleable iron is the more suitable material. Ductile iron typically cannot be cast as thin as malleable iron and also tends to exhibit unmachinable hard spots in thin sections. We pour numerous grades of malleable iron, with some grades possessing strength properties on par with steel. We also pour different grades of gray iron. For larger castings, our quality, machinability, performance and price are equivalent or better than ductile iron.
