Why does Veriscape not outsource its support?
Because while outsourcing appears on the surface to be less expensive (as outsourcing can be obtained for less than US $10/man hour), in Veriscape’s business analysis we see that the amount of total all-in cost for outsourcing substantially exceeds the costs of having specialized support engineers directly support our clients world-wide. For example, Veriscape has calculated that for IT outsourcing for IntelleCat the pure IT time required to resolve the problem is approximately 12 man hours and thus equaling US $120. On the contrary an IntelleCat senior support person can often resolve the same problem in 15 minutes, thus a cost of US $62.50. These are the hard dollar costs. Now we must consider what the outage is costing our customers and their inability to access the system which could run into the thousands of US dollars, so this is a classic example of false economy which Veriscape feels does not serve its global user base to the level they have the right to expect.
